Once Upon A Time...

Dreams Come True
As teenage boy I dreamed about
The one that I would love;
The girl I'd spend my life with-
That treasure from above.
She'd be my legs in laimness;
In blindness, help me see.
She'd be a soothing balm
Through each infirmity.
Her smile would be my sunshine
On cold and dreary days.
Her touch would be my comfort
Along life's toilsome way.
In darkness she would be a light;
In strife, she would bring peace.
Her care would calm the tempest
And cause the winds to cease.
Amidst the death of faithfulness
And virtues, not a few,
Her loyalty's a contrast
Of dedication true!
No - She is not perfect.
Oft' times she falls from grace.
With meekness and humility,
She seeks her Saviour's face.
Her tenderness with yielded heart;
Surrender of her mind;
Submission of her broken will
Make her one of a kind.
Upon reflection of my life,
Many mistakes are found.
Yet, to me, like her Saviour-
Her precious grace abounds!
Though scoffers laugh, and doubters cry,
This dream could never be!
To me, "tis not a fairy tale,
But true reality.
"No girl like this could e'er exist!"
The scoffers loudly cry.
My sweetheart of eight lovely years
Doth make their words a lie.
This morning, as I woke to see
Not just my wife in view.
I saw my "Happly' e'er after"--
I saw my "Dream come true."
Happy 8th Anniversary

Long time, no see...

Hello there...remember me?! This is how my blog must feel!! It's been a whole week since I have recorded anything...shame on me!! Nothing really out of the ordinary has happened this past week, pretty much the same old things. Something exciting did happen on this past Friday. My husband received a bonus at his work and we were able to purchase a digital camera on Saturday (we wasted no time!!). Oh, I am so excited!! David and I just finished trying to figure out just the basics of downloading and such, so we will see what happens. I know in time that I will get smarter about this whole new world of "digital technology". Here are some photos taken today...

A Busy Day...

Sundays are always such busy days with everything that goes on!! We have the busroute, Sunday services, then we come home and try to squeeze naps in for the kids - wake them up early because of choir practice, Sunday evening service, summer fellowship and then we come home for baths and bed!! Whew!, it makes me tired just thinking about it! But after it is all said and done, I wouldn't trade our busy schedule on Sunday for nothing!! The Lord has allowed us to be busy for His service, and do it together as a family too!! We may be tired at the end of the day, but it is a "good" tired. Tonight was my team's night for the summer fellowship - finger food!! I enjoy these fellowships so much; I am going to miss them come fall time!!

Grandma Darrow's party...

We had such a fun time at Aunt Nan's house over in Phelps. We celebrated Grandma Darrow's 75th birthday. We had such a good time...and the boys were in their glory!! David rode his scooter and played with another little boy there named Christopher. They played in the playhouse, wrote on the huge chalkboard, swung on the swing, and played with every outside toy Aunt Nan had out!! Needless to say, they did not want to leave. And of course, right before we got in the van, Joey fell head first onto the paved driveway...he will have a big "goose egg" on his forehead for a while!! Oh, but after Aunt Nan gave him a Tootsie Pop, he suddenly forgot about his head!! It was so nice to be together with everyone, but it is even better to come home to just my honey, me, and the boys!!!

Saturday Mornings...

Every Saturday morning we all go out on bus visitation. I love to spend the time with my hubby, and it's nice to all be together as a family!! The boys love to go to each house and see the children and try to get into every little thing they can get their hands on in the little time we are there!! This morning as we approached the Herman's house, the smell of homefries greeted us at the front door...Mr. Herman is a great cook!! My husband said it smelled like a MAN was cooking in the kitchen...no offense to me! We were finally able to catch some of the folks home that normally aren't around! Overall, it was a good morning. We made some quick stops to Walmart and Wegmans too!! Hey, you have to use your time wisely...right?! Later on, we will be going to a birthday picnic for David's grandma...she is turning 75! The boys can hardly wait - David said he wants to bring his scooter and his cars!!

Gratitude...

We are so thankful to announce the news that Landmark Baptist Church in Clio has voted in a new Pastor! Also God has answered some very serious prayers of our Pastor and his family. I can't imagine the thrill of their hearts to see God work in such a marvelous way! It is such a testimony of God's reality to see Him work and answer our requests. It's a blessing to know that my Pastor and his wife get things from God. Its a testimony to their stedfastness in prayer and their worthy walk! It's such a privilege to be his assistant. I thank God for the opportunity I had tonight to have an activity with the teens. We had a Scavenger Hunt and I believe everyone had a wonderful time. Bro. Senecal's team won (by cheating of course). Is the New Testement a Bible? God has been so good to me in giving me such godly faithful people to not only be my example, but be my friend! Thank God it is Friday night! I get to spend the next 56 hours with the people I love the most!

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Just an ordinary day...

Today was pretty much another ordinary day...nothing too crazy happened!! My boys did decide to test my patience to it's peak this afternoon after their naps!!! I really missed my hubby tonight (he was gone on a teen activity). The boys and I stayed home. While they played with their tractors and flying wheels, I was able to catch up on some laundry and make some chocolate-chip cookie bars!! Unfortunately, I can't eat them at this time as I am on a special diet challenge for the next 6 days...my husband said they were delicious! (thanks, honey, for not rubbing it in!). Later, I gave the boys their bath, and put them to bed. Now it is 10:15p.m. and my husband and I are on the couch. We were looking on-line at digital cameras so someday I can put pictures with my blogs...and of course for other things as well! I think it would make the blogs so much more personal and memorable if there were pictures to go along with them. We will keep our eyes open!!

Sarah's house...

Today, the boys and I went to the Senecal's home to visit and play. David kept asking me all morning,"Mommy, when are we going to Sarah's house?" So, finally we packed up the van and we were on our way. The whole way there..."Mommy, where is Sarah's house? Is that Sarah's house? (as we passed every house on the road). Finally, we arrived at Sarah's house!!! The kids had so much fun playing with everybody! We had a full and entertaining time while there...food, fellowship, fun, and even some music played to us while we ate and visited! Never a dull moment there!! Oh, but what a blessing to have good, Christian friends that we can fellowship with. People who are not only good for me to be around, but also for my children. Amy helped me figure out some things as far as my blog is concerned...and she made that beautiful picture of the apple for our title!! What a blessing her friendship is to me. I learned so much just by being with her in her home...all good, of course!! Now my boys are fast asleep in their beds for their naptime - they are both whipped from all the fun!!

Results of the recipe...

Well, I just finished making the new recipe of granola, and I got "rave reviews"!! The taste-testers (my two boys!) just loved it. I am so glad when I can find and make something that is healthy for them and that they love too!! Thank you, Amy! At the moment they are both sitting with their bowls of granola eating it with their "special spoons"!!!

Trying a new recipe...

I am going to try a new recipe from my friend, Amy, for granola. She posted it on her blog and it looked so yummy and easy too! So, I will have to let you know how it turns out for me (I have the ability to make recipes taste differently than they should!!).

A New Beginning... Tonight, I decided that I wanted to create a place where I could go and record special moments and happenings in my family's life - everyday life. Not just to remember the big events in our life, but the simplest, little things that I never wanted to forget. So, here it is - my blog!! I'm just warning you now, I am not very creative, but with the Lord's help (and some from my close friends) I pledge to make this as good as this girl can!!
